Darion first became interested in holistic lifestyle in 2011. After being enlightened to her own negativity, debilitating anxiety, self-sabotage, and poor confidence, Darion decided to begin taking real actions toward becoming a more positive & loving person. She has always been passionate about exploring different physical activities and continues to practice a variety of sports & activities. Her favorite activities include but aren’t limited to acrobatics, track, mountain hiking, yoga, dance, hula-hooping, kettle bell, and Brazilian jiu jitsu.
Darion works professionally by day as a Licensed Occupation Therapy Assistant. According to the American Occupational Therapy Association,”Occupational therapy (OT) is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.” OT emphasizes a client-centered and holistic approach to making life changes that maximize people’s quality of life.
While studying OT, Darion’s understanding of holistic lifestyle began to really broaden. The medical practice of OT exposed her to a variety of topics related to coaching holistic lifestyle including psychology, therapeutic activity design, critical thinking, anatomy & physiology, stress management, overcoming limitation, movement analysis, creative lifestyle design, exercise programing, and setting realistic, achievable goals.
During OT school, Darion was co-owner and head restorative yoga instructor a local yoga studio The Yoga Projekt. During this work, she learned how to inspire change through the use of groups, leading a variety of classes from barre, gentle yoga, hot yoga, power yoga, and yoga with weights.
This woman makes it her job to integrate the practices of holistic lifestyle on the daily into her own life first; which you can see and feel when practicing with her. Darion is an advocate for OT, but also realizes the great need for education and integration of preventive health practices, especially for women. Everyday, she faces aging patients living with deficits as the result of chronic poor lifestyle choices & wishes to encourage people to take responsibility for their health early!
She values simple connections with her community, taking a simple and relaxed approach to healthy lifestyle, moving bodies, cooking, and playing outside with her family of 3. Not only qualified through her degree in OT, but also through her ISSA Certification in Personal Training and completion of the C.H.E.K Holistic Lifestyle Coach Level 1 program. A holistic lifestyle coach that truly practices what she preaches!
